Grand Opening Celebration, “Forest Full of Fun”

The South Montgomery County YMCA is coming alive with adventure as the staff and crew prepare to open the New Creekside YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center! The community is invited to Come See and Experience the New YMCA and to Celebrate with us at the “Forest Full of Fun Grand Opening Celebration”, 3:00 – 9:30pm, Saturday, June 5th. You have to see it for yourself. It is a YMCA unlike any other!

Free Family Fun for all ages, the festivities will reconnect kids and families with nature. Activities will include petting zoo, camel rides, pony rides, archery, alpine tower, live entertainment on the outdoor stage, jousting, face painting, balloon art, mascots, moonwalk, climbing wall, wax hand booth, thumbprint art, caricature sketch artist, pottery art, food and beverages, ReMax Hot Air Balloon, magic show, puppet show, door prize drawings, guided tours, one day membership promotion and much more. The evening will conclude with an outdoor family movie in the amphitheater and S’Mores in the outdoor fireplace beginning at 8:15pm. Families will have the opportunity to decorate hand painted tiles that will be later hung as artwork throughout the facility as part of the Grand Opening Celebration.  Grand prize drawings include Complimentary 12 month YMCA Family Memberships! The longer you stay and the more you participate, the more chances you have to win. AND. . .the first 500 families will receive a commemorative t-shirt – limit 2 per family. The fun begins at 3:00pm with a brief ribbon cutting ceremony.

In addition to the outdoor activities, there will be a vendor fair inside the YMCA Lodge. A variety of vendors including jewelry, arts/crafts, pottery, accessories, children’s gifts, sculptures, candles, YMCA Summer Program Information etc . . . . will be available for your browsing and shopping enjoyment. of an authentic Native American tipi. Interconnected by expansive forest canopies and sprawling wooden boardwalks, there’s simply nothing like Creekside anywhere in the Greater Houston Area. Explore everything from the centerpiece lodge to alpine tower to zip line to archery range to outdoor amphitheater.

Nestled on 21 acres, donated by The Woodlands Development Company, the new YMCA is located in The Woodlands newest Village of Creekside Park adjacent to the 1700 acre George Mitchell Preserve. The Creekside YMCA will be a unique facility.  A primary element will be the attention to outdoor recreation and education, reconnecting kids and families with nature, and bringing back the sense of adventure to the family outdoor experience.  

Creekside YMCA is the new home for the YMCA Summer Day Camp Program for children ages 5 – 11. Following the Grand Opening weekend celebration, the staff will gear up for the first day of camp, Monday, June 7th. This summer plan for your kids to escape to a woodsy outdoor adventures, just minutes from home. Summer fun unplugged with a little help from Mother Nature and your trusted YMCA Camp Counselors, day campers never had it so good. Camp is offered in weekly sessions, Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 6:30pm. To register please stop by any YMCA location in The Woodlands or register online at www.discoverymcacamping.org.
