SKCC members welcome Shaida Dezfuli, Senior Transportation Planner with the Houston-Galveston Area Council as their May Luncheon Speaker and invite's the community to join them. The Luncheon will be held at the Spring Creek BBQ, located at 6068 FM 2920, Spring, TX 77379. Please visit the chamber on the web at www.springkleinchamber.org

Ms Dezfuli will discuss The Regional Transit Framework Study which is a year-long study that will identify and prioritize future transit needs for the region and will be incorporated into the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) through the year 2040. The study uses a needs-based planning process and engage transit stakeholders, including local governments and the public, throughout the study process. Specifically, the effort includes a detailed level of analysis of current and future transit system plans and needs, and provides recommendations for a regional decision-making framework to guide future transit policy decisions. Furthermore, it is intended to foster connectivity between activity centers, enhance community mobility through a variety of modes, and create a vision for a model regional transit network.

The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is the comprehensive plan that identifies highway, transit, and other transportation projects needed to keep up with expected population growth in the Houston-Galveston region through the next 30 years. H-GAC updates this document every 4 years and is preparing to start the process to develop a new RTP that looks out to 2040. I will discuss in general this process and the various aspects and plans that go into it, but also the public outreach component that is especially crucial to the process and how the chamber and its citizens can be involved as it includes all members of the region.
